Castle Acre

Sunday 13 November 2016. Although this blog has a title of “Castle Acre” we did in fact start from near the ford just outside of West Acre. 9 of us set off at a brisk pace uphill stopping at 11am for coffee and to mark Remembrance Day. Passing through South Acre we soon crossed the River Nar and did a circuit of the castle ruins before stopping again for lunch on the village green in Castle Acre.

The last part of the walk took us along the Nar Valley Way which was its usual muddy self but not as boggy has it could have been. The walk was 6.5 miles with a total ascent of 460ft.
