Those who attended the walk at Snipe Dales will know that the quoted starting point was incorrect both in OS Grid Ref and associated Post Code. Details for this walk were downloaded some time ago from Walkingworld.com, a source for many of my walks. If I find any issues with these walks, then I raise them with the website owners which is what I did in this particular case. It transpires that not only was the starting grid ref incorrect but so were all of the other waymarks. Despite investigations by Walkingworld, we couldn’t get to the bottom of this as all of the grid refs shown on the “live” copy of the walk are fully accurate but differ significantly to those that I used which resulted in the starting point being shown over a mile away from the Country Park car park. I can only apologise for this but we managed to find our way there despite this error.
I’ve found the answer to what seemed to be a modern stone circle that we came across towards the end of the walk. Apparently it is linked to a “Chakra” path at Shire Farm. As a “non-believer”, it seems like hokum to me but you can read more for yourself at this link.
