Sunday 12 April 2015. 16 walkers turned out on a bright and very breezy day for an 8 mile walk from Castor. We stopped briefly on our way out of Castor to look at St Kyneburgha’s church before passing through Ailsworth and crossing the busy A47 to get into open countryside. Our coffee stop was taken at the first place that provided shelter from a gusty wind.
Our route then took us across Milton golf course before picking up the line of the Nene Valley Way at the northern end of Ferry Meadows country park. Lunch was taken on Landy Green Way as this provided a good wind-break. The remainder of the walk was alongside the River Nene, passing by Castor Mill before crossing under the Nene Valley Railway and back to the cars.
