Friday 13 June 2014. I made a trip across the Welsh border today to do the adjoining hills of Corndon & Lan Fawr. Although it was only 6 miles, the walk included 1,500ft of ascent and felt like a real slog in the summer heat. There was a 500ft climb on sheep tracks through bracken to the summit of Corndon. A downhill section followed a series of cairns before climbing again to Lan Fawr. The descent from here was ridiculously steep down a grassy slope, losing 600ft in in less than a quarter of a mile. There were great views to be had from the top of both hills with Cadair Idris clearly visible some 35 miles away.
