Kirkby Lonsdale

Friday 12 April. The weather forecast for today wasn’t that great and we had heavy rain for about an hour at around 8am. This made my mind up and instead of going off for a longer walk with the risk of getting wet; I decided that I would have a lazy day in and around the caravan. I needed some fresh air so I set off on a 2 mile circular walk from the caravan site, alongside the River Lune and into Kirkby Lonsdale.

I undertook a little research in advance of the “4 ladies” joining me at the weekend and called into a local café/bakery where I had a 3 rasher bacon baguette and a pot of tea. Definitely worth another visit as they had a roaring log fire and a fine selection of cakes.

Suitably refreshed, I set off to explore the town before making my way back to the caravan. The orange coloured bridge carries the A65 and the older “Devil’s Bridge” is now restricted to those on foot.
