Keswick round

Bea & Karen joined us today to swell our numbers to 4 for an 8.25 mile round of Keswick with 890ft of ascent. The walk was chosen as a gentle introduction for our two new walkers and to help Terry to ease his aching legs after yesterday’s exertions. Rain had been forecast, but we only had a few spots in the breeze.

We walked into town after parking for free and stopped off in Booths supermarket for toilets and morning coffee. We then walked past the landing stages and Friar’s Crag overlooking Derwentwater before a short sharp climb to a summit in Castlehead Wood – only 520ft.

From here we made our way to Castlerigg stone circle, stopping for lunch on the way. We then walked along the disused railway lane to join the crowds in Keswick.
