My journey north seemed uneventful until 50 miles from my caravan site when an ignition warning light came on in my car. I stopped to read the handbook to find out what to do? It advised a visit to a Ford dealer ASAP. Setting off again, the warning light had gone out but the car sounded more like a tractor. I took the car first thing this morning (Tuesday) to the Ford dealer in Workington where it was discovered that a timing belt had broken. A replacement is on order and will, hopefully, be fitted tomorrow. This effectively means that two days of walking have had to be written off but it could have been far worse. At least the repairs are being done under warranty.
