Wednesday’s walk was a tough 6 miles with 2,900ft of ascent. Starting from Llyn Ogwen we climbed an initial 1,000ft up past Llyn Idwal and through the Devil’s Kitchen. It had a fearsome reputation and when we got to the top I confirmed with another walker that we had in fact taken the correct route as it hadn’t seemed quite that bad. After a short rest we then climbed a further 1,100ft up scree and rocks to Glyder Fawr which, at 3,250ft, is only marginally lower than Snowdon. From here it was on to Glyder Fach and a rocky descent in the shadow of Tryfan. I found the walk exhausting.
