Hunstanton & "The Whale"

This was our “day late” New Year’s Day walk when 7 of us met up at Hunstanton on a fabulously clear winters day for a 6 mile walk out beyond Holme to The Firs, returning alonside the River Hun and the golf course. A dead Sperm Whale which had washed up 9 days ago drew large crowds. This was an odd attraction and when we came back, the whale could hardly be seen for the people. The strong breeze made it ideal for kite surfers and didn’t detract from our beach walk to Holme. From here it was mainly boardwalk to The Firs and back before the final stretch to Hunstanton. The town was packed but we still managed to find a seat in a local cafe whilst Amanda went on her own for fish & chips
