Stake Pass and Esk Hause

Another’s walk of 11miles with 3,000ft of ascent which was undertaken at a breakneck pace. So much so that we only had time for 10 minute coffee & lunch breaks. We walked along Langstrath Dale and then tackled the 900ft climb of Stake Pass. I’d been up here when doing the Cumbrian Way and it was no easier the second time around. We then had a boggy crossing of open fellside before arriving at Angle Tarn for lunch. A climb of a further 600ft took us to Esk Hause from where we made the 1,850ft descent to Stockley Bridge and a further couple of miles on the level to our waiting bus.
