Lauder

Today’s walk was 7?? miles with 950ft of ascent, based on the Scottish borders town of Lauder. Leaving the town, we had a steady climb on the route of the Southern Uplands Way to Chester Hill Fort. Leaving the SUW after a couple of miles we made our way across Lauder Common (moorland) to our highpoint on Brown Rigg (1200ft). We had our lunch here with spectacular views of the Lammermuir Hills to the north, the Moorfoot Hills to the west and the Cheviots to the far south east. After lunch we made our way gradually down hill on a broad moorland track back to Lauder for tea.
