Craster

Today’s walk was supposed to by 6 miles as per the National Trust leaflet, but when I got back and measured it on my digital mapping, it turned out to be 7¼ miles with 350ft of ascent. I didn’t think that I’d been walking that slowly! Starting from Craster there was a little over a mile to walk to the ruined Dunstanburgh Castle. There then followed a couple of miles on the beach at Embleton Bay before reaching the turning point of Low Newton-by-the-Sea where the path ran along the edge of the golf course to retrace my steps back to Craster. This was an incredibly popular walk with dozens of other walkers, mainly families, taking advantage of a window in the weather.
