High Force

I was joined today by Bea for a 7?? mile walk with 925ft of ascent. Starting from Bowlees, we crossed the River Tees on an old suspension bridge before viewing Low Force waterfalls. There had been 35mm of rain yesterday so there was no shortage of water! We then followed the Pennine Way heading north up the banks of the Tees to High Force – a most spectacular waterfall and well worth the walk. From here we continued further upstream to cross the Tees on a more substantial bridge at Forest-in-Teesdale where we had lunch before heading back to the cars. It was an odd day weatherwise with the threat of rain which materialised in the form of showers for about 15 minutes but not too bad. The last few miles were completed in warm sunshine.
