Tour de France

The first three weeks of July really are a problem for me as watching the Tour de France on TV seems to dominate everything that I do. Today was the crucial stage of the tour and the weather here in Helmsley was overcast, cool & breezy. So it was no contest and the TV won out over walking. Having watched the tour for more than 5 hours, the end was a disappointment as Andy Schleck & Alberto Contador crossed the line at the summit of the Col du Tourmalet separated by inches. The viewing provided added interest as the route passed through Barege about 6 miles from the top. It was here that I spent some time nearly 10 years ago on a walking holiday in the Pyrenees. I now feel guilty over my day of inactivity and must now make up for it during the remainder of the holiday.
