Home again from my fourth caravanning/walking holiday of the year. It all seems to pass so quickly and the summer is half over. Despite the driest summer for many years, the western part of the country, including Wales, was forecast rain during the last two weeks but this hardly ever materialised. A couple of passing fronts meant that the weather was often windy with low cloud on the hills and this restricted walking opportunities a little. Nevertheless, I did manage 6 walks with a total of 43 miles and 9,600ft of ascent. This brought the season’s totals to 228 miles and 40,600ft. The highlights of the holiday were the two walks on the Brecon Beacons taking in Pen-y-Fan and Fan-y-Big.
