Wookey Hole & Ebbor Gorge

Yesterday’s walk was 5 miles and 700ft through Wookey Hole & Ebbor Gorge.  The rain of Thursday had given way to a warm sunny morning. The start of the walk was at the top of the woods surrounding Ebbor Gorge which meant that whilst it was downhill to start, it was all uphill at the finish.  We descended through the woods to the village of Wookey Hole with its caves.  Surprisingly it wasn’t too commercialised and car parking & toilets were free. We then had a 500ft climb to the high point of our walk where we stopped for lunch overlooking much of Somerset and Glastonbury Tor.  From here we descended through Ebbor Gorge where the gully was slippery and steep. The final climb was back to the car park.
