Strawberry Line

Today’s walk was 7 miles starting and finishing on sections of the now defunct Strawberry Line from just outside Axbridge.  After a couple of navigational challenges we tackled the near 700 foot climb to the summit of Fry’s Hill (760ft).  From here it was largely downhill to Shipham where I tried my first pint of Thatcher’s Somerset cider.  It was okay but is an acquired taste. After lunch it was a pleasant stroll through meadows to Winscombe to rejoin the Strawberry Line.
